Bout of Books: Days 3-5 Update

q5ighfpThe Bout of Books read-a-thon is organized by Amanda @ On a Book Bender and Kelly @ Reading the Paranormal. It is a week long read-a-thon that begins 12:01am Monday, May 9th and runs through Sunday, May 15th in whatever time zone you are in. Bout of Books is low-pressure. There are challenges, giveaways, and a grand prize, but all of these are completely optional. For all Bout of Books 16 informaion and updates, be sure to visit the Bout of Books blog. – From the Bout of Books team

So, it’s turning out I’m not so good at readathons. Or at least at the social media component of them. This makes sense; I’m not good at social media generally, and when I’m really into reading, I just want to be left alone. The latter is also the reason why I’ve gotten super sloppy about tracking how much I’ve been reading. That said… I’m loving the readathon! I’ve been getting way more reading done than usual for me, and that was the whole point for me.

The below are for Days 3 – 5 and are very approximate.

Time spent reading: 11 hours, 30 minutes
What I read: A whole bunch of the  Voyager by Diana Gabaldon audiobook (about which I have a lot of feels – there will be a post later); I finished Story of a New Name by Elena Ferrante (LOVE); I’m about 125 pages into Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay by Elena Ferrante (Yep, I’ve got Ferrante Fever bad).
Total time spent reading: 17 hours
Total books completed: 2
Challenge: Nope. Too lazy. Instead, here’s a picture of a penguin wearing a sweater with the Penguin Books logo knit by the oldest man in Australia. You’re welcome.

  1. Glad to be hearing good things about the next 2 Ferrante books! I still haven’t finished My Brilliant Friend because it’s just too good and I don’t want it to be over, even though I keep reminding myself that there are 3 other books, haha.

    • I feel like I should avoid binge reading them because then I’ll be all done, but I just can’t stop!
